“Right after I quit school to take the test for my diploma, so about two and a half years ago.”
“I’m sorry, baby.” He let out a big breath and flopped back on the bed. “I just…I feel like something is still going to happen, and though I’ll give my life to make sure they don’t get you again, I want to know that you can defend yourself if I’m not there or if something happens to me. I don’t know how to describe it. It’s just a gut feeling.”
“Why are you feeling guilty?” He asked, and I realized I hadn’t been shielding from him. I had gotten so caught up with being with him, I had forgotten.
“I seem to be making all of this harder on everyone.” It was the truth; I did feel guilty for that, but I couldn’t tell him everything yet. All too soon he’d know. I just wasn’t ready to spoil our day together. It was taking everything I had to shield it from him.
Trent turned to face me, running his fingers down the side of my face so gently I barely felt them, but they left a tingling trail in their wake. “None of this is your fault, Crystie.” I could see all of the love he felt for me reflected in those blue depths. “Now, enough of all of this talk. Tonight is about us finally being us.”
I giggled at that and he joined me after a moment. That had been one of the sweetest, yet lamest things I had ever heard.
“I’ll give you lame.”
Oooo! I couldn’t wait until I could hear his thoughts and use them against him like he did me.
“Oh really.” He said, rolling over to cover me so I couldn’t move before he started tickling me. “I have nothing to hide.” He kept it up until I was crying and cramping. When he saw this he stopped and bent down to my middle to rub and kiss my side to make it better, which only got me hotter.
I pulled on his shoulders to bring his face back level with mine. “I love you, Trent Parker.” I said before pulling his mouth down to mine. Never had I thought I’d be so brazen with anyone, but Trent made me feel things I had never even dreamed of. I guess that was what a mate was for. To love you as no other and to bring the best out in you.
The kiss started out tender, both of us sipping at each other’s lips, but when Trent ran his tongue across the seam of my mouth; I felt such wonderment that when I let him enter, it became a battle of dominance.
Omega’s weren’t aggressive whether they were born or made, but tasting my mate fully like this did something to me. It was a sensual aggression, that he actually had trouble keeping up with. I rolled him over to his back and was about to take his shirt off when a knock sounded at the door.
Trent growled and stormed up over to the door, slamming it open.
Nikki was standing there with a tray of food. She looked nervous as she told us that Jeffery had ordered her to bring them dinner. He had said that we would need it, which even had Trent blushing at the fact that his dad was thinking about what they were doing.
We both thanked her as Trent took the tray and closed the door before looking at me. As soon as he did we both busted out laughing.
“How did he know what we were doing?” He asked as we calmed down.
“I told him. I’m sorry; I should have asked you first.” I said feeling guilty again for leaving Trent out of the plans for now.
“No, it’s okay. He would have gotten it from your head anyway.” He said, and I remembered that the Alpha could listen to any thoughts he chose to of anyone in his pack. He couldn’t do that with Trent, though, since he was too close to his ascension.
“We hadn’t talked about it to anyone, so it wasn’t my place to tell him.” I said, tears coming to my eyes. I didn’t really understand why I was getting emotional, but I didn’t want to mess anything up. He was going to be upset enough later.
“Like I said before, we’re not going to talk about any of that.” He said as he led me back to the couch in his room. We sat and ate the dinner they had fixed us of steaks and baked potatoes with a garden salad. I blushed when instead of feeding himself; he kept cutting bites for me to eat, leaving me no time to eat what was on my plate. When I was finished, I did the same for him, but I wasn’t as coordinated since my hands were shaking with nervousness. I kept getting steak sauce and sour cream on his mouth, but once I started licking it off to make up for my lack of coordination, he started moving his mouth out of the way to purposely get messy. I was giggling and so out of breath from just having fun with him while we ate, that it actually caught me off guard when he snatched me from my seat and carried me to the bed.
He looked into my eyes the whole time he undressed me, calming my nerves. When he then undressed himself, my breath caught in my throat at the sheer masculine beauty that was him. I didn’t know what I had ever done in my life for the Goddess to reward me like this, but I was very grateful.
He kissed my lips before making his way south, stopping to pay some attention to my aching breasts. I was already panting with need as he made his way further down to my soaking wet entrance. Though, by that time, I was so ready for him, he still took his time and made sure to bring me once before he slid back up my body so we could finally join. He entered me as I was still vibrating from my orgasm, and he again made me his for life. He kissed me with such love and passion as he made love to me, that it brought tears to my eyes.
He stilled long enough to ask, “I’m not hurting you am I?” When I shook my head no, he continued, bringing his lips back down to mine.
I had my legs wrapped around his waist and my arms around his back, holding him as closely as I could. In that moment and from then on out we were truly one.
His pace started to quicken and lose its rhythm as he was pulling me closer and closer to heaven, until finally it felt as if my whole body exploded in pleasurable sensations. Too many for me to handle, and at that same moment my wolf took over, biting into his neck, right under his ear. He had stilled inside me, and I could feel the warmth of his release blending with all of the other sensations moving in waves through my body. As my teeth sank into his neck, I felt the exquisite pleasure of his teeth sinking into mine as we once again marked each other, solidifying the mate bond we’d created the night before.
All of a sudden I felt him in my head. We were one mind; one body; one spirit combined, and I had never felt so complete and so sated in my life. I truly felt as if I were home in his arms.
We were lying in each other’s arms basking in our new found love and link, when Trent obviously got to the part of my head that held my plans.
He shot up on the bed. “NO!” He said sternly.
“Please calm down, Trent. Let’s talk this out.” I pleaded with him softly.
“There is no use.” He said. “I am not letting you give yourself to the rogues! I just got you back, and you weren’t in very good shape, I won’t be able to handle that. It’s not happening. We will find another way.” He was pulling on his jeans because he could feel the distraction he was causing by pacing around the room naked, and he knew we needed to have a serious discussion.
“If we don’t then it will be a battle that will hurt members of our pack.” I said, just as determined to get my way as he was to get his. “The rogues have no way of knowing Zeke defected, and they didn’t stick around long enough to see if there were any survivors. If Zeke takes me in, saying he was commanded to by Hughes, then Bethany will think nothing of it. You will be able to find me wherever we are through our mate link. You can ambush them and they’ll never see you coming.” I walked up to him, taking his face in my hands and forcing him to look at me. “It will save our pack; any wolves that would have gotten hurt by the ferals they have with them.” I said, making sure he heard and understood.
“I don’t care about the pack. I only care about you.” He said, tears welling in his eyes.
I dropped his face and took a step back. I knew he couldn’t mean it. He was going to Alpha; pack came first, but looking in his eyes at that moment, I saw that he’d give it all up and run with me if that’s what it took to keep me safe.
I then saw
as realization hit him that it was best for the pack. It was my job as an Omega to help with the safety and welfare of the pack. I couldn’t fight, but this…this was something I could do to save our pack, and as future Alpha, he would support me and be right there with me.
“They won’t kill me. They need me. You just have to make sure they won’t have me long enough to do anything else they’ll regret.”
Trent didn’t speak. He couldn’t. He hated himself and his position for what we were about to do. He hated that I was Omega at that moment. And he hated it as we went down to his dad to make the preparations and plans.
Chapter 20
I had been feeling extremely guilty for the way I had handled everything, but right beside the guilty feeling was a feeling of happiness and contentment. I had my mate! I could feel him inside me; hear his thoughts and feel what he was feeling. I was an amazing, indescribable feeling I never allowed myself to think I would have.
A huge grin broke out on Trent’s face. “I know what you mean.” He said. “I had given up on finding my mate.” He stopped us right in front of his dad’s office and turned to me, bringing both hands up to cup my face. “There is no need for you to feel guilty, Crystie. You are an amazing person that puts everyone before yourself, even at the cost of hurting yourself. It’s something I am going to have to learn to deal with because it’s just who you are; and I love you for who you are, not what your title is. I understand, from an Alpha standpoint, the need to protect our pack, but from a mate standpoint, you have to understand my reluctance and dislike for the situation. Before I allow you to do anything, you will detail to me, my father, your guards and the enforcers, what exactly your plan is so we can collectively come up with any possible scenarios and have satisfactory solutions for them all. Only then will you be able to save the world.” He said the last part, trying to inject a little humor in the situation and distract himself from the battle waging inside of him.
Trent bent down, and I think he only meant to give me a short kiss, but as soon as his lips touched mine, passion flared between the two of us, and the rest of the world faded away. It was getting worse in a great way, ever since we marked each other again. I opened my mouth to allow his tongue entry. All that existed at that moment was me and him. I was just so into the feelings he ignited in me.
That was until the door behind him opened and I heard a throat clear. I hadn’t realized that I had climbed up Trent, but my legs were wrapped around his waist and my arms around his neck; my hands tangled in his lush hair.
“We can put this off for a couple of days.” Jeffery said with a slight smirk on his face. When I finally was able to get past the embarrassment, I looked over and he was standing there with my dad right beside him, holding his laugh in.
I slid down Trent’s body, his hands on my hips to hold me steady, and moved around to stand beside him.
Trent was grinning like the Cheshire cat as he said it was a good idea and looked down to me. I knew he wanted to put this off for as long as possible, but it would be easier believed by the rogues the sooner we did it.
“I know.” He whispered after hearing my thoughts on it. He turned back to Jeffery and Daddy. “We need to get everyone together and go over every detail of Crystie’s plan so we can have every angle tackled before she leaves.”
“Alright,” He said. “I’ve called who we need and they’re on their way.”
“Can you send someone for both Zeke and Bolton? They will both have a part in this.” I asked as we headed to the meeting room to allow room for all of those that would be there.
He turned to one of the people sitting in the living room watching a movie and sent them off to retrieve the guys.
“Alright. My whole thing stems off the answer to a couple of questions to you two.” I said to Zeke and Bolton after everyone was gathered. “Can either of you still link up with the rogues?”
Bolton shook his head. “I never could. The only one I ever had a link to was Hughes.”
“I can, but not while in human form.” Zeke answered. “With Hughes dead, I don’t know who the link fell to, but it’ll still be there.”
“Actually,” Jeffery spoke up. “It should work the same way as a normal pack, which means whoever killed Hughes would now hold the link for the rogues.” He looked Zeke in the eye to drive the point in because he knew that Zeke had been the one to kill him saving me.
Zeke paled. He shook his head slowly, drying to deny what was being said.
Relief flooded me as I looked to Trent, letting him see what this meant before walking over to Zeke.
“Zeke,” I put my hand on his shoulder and helped calm him enough to actually hear what I was going to say. He looked at me and I saw the fear in his eyes. He didn’t want to go back to being what he was. “You will never be that again.” I said trying to reassure him. “This means that technically you are the Rogues Alpha. I was going to ask for your help before, but now I really need it to successfully stop them.”
“I told you Crystie, my life is yours. Whatever you ask of me, if I can it’s yours.” He stood taller and pushed his fear to the back.
“Thank you, Zeke.” I looked over to Nikki and smiled, letting her know it would be okay. She had had a whole gamut of emotions running through her as I had spoken with Zeke, but fear for him was at the forefront now. She nodded to me and looked away.
I walked back to Trent, Jeffery and my dad standing in the front of the room. “I have a simple, but I believe effective, plan. Zeke will contact the rogues and tell them he followed us here and followed through on his orders for me. That he has me and needs to know where to take me.”
I allowed this to sink in for a second before moving on. Trent and Jeffery had already gleaned the information from my head. “Bolton will follow at a distance and provide a distraction if need be, but that will only go so far. I’m not stupid, so I know that they will move me once they get me from Zeke. Trent, being my mate will be able to track me and stay in contact with me the whole time. They don’t know I have a mate; in fact they don’t think I have one at all right now due to the reason for my travel and the information they got from an internal source.” Only a few knew Bolton had given that info, and I didn’t want it going any further. I never wanted him to be shunned for something he had no control over.
“Won’t they see your mark and be able to scent you?” One of the enforcers spoke up.
“If any of you are near enough to me to scent, you’ll be able to see that my scent still is not back to normal yet from the supplements I took on a daily basis. My mark can and will be covered for this purpose only.” I told him. I could hear several of the wolves sniffing and wanted to laugh. It was kind of weird, but I’d told them to do it. “Anyway, Trent, and Jeffery will lead you all to come and attack the rogues and save me. I don’t anticipate anything major happening. They want to use me, not kill me. Hughes had said the only reason they killed the others was because some of the ferals would get out of control.”
“What if they do that to you?” Someone asked.
“As you all know, my gift is more focused that that of even my dad’s. Being a born Omega has given me some advantages and they know this.”
We all talked over anything anyone could think of that might come up or go wrong and came up with solutions as best as we could for it. I made my way over to Billy who was extremely distracted.
“How are they?” I asked softly.
“I don’t know what to do.” He said. “Becca has not put Jasmine down at all. She won’t sleep, she barely eats…Nothing I have done has helped.”
I hated that my best friend was suffering. I looked over to where Trent was standing, talking to Bolton and Zeke, and saw him watching me.
‘Go see her. Help her as much as you can. Just make sure Billy stays with you.’ I heard Trent whisper in my head.
‘Thank you. I love you and will meet you back in our room.’ I told him and led Billy out of the meeting.
‘Sounds wonderf
ul, baby,’ Trent said to me, making me shiver with the pictures going through his head. ‘And I love you too.’
I looked behind us when I heard someone’s footsteps following ours, and saw Ryan a few yards behind us. I stopped to let him catch up.
“I knew you wouldn’t be able to help yourself.” I said to Ryan.
“It’s not fair; what you’re doing.” He said back to me, not sounding too happy. “Everyone who has sworn to protect you now has to watch you do this. I told you that I would not leave you like that again, and now you are making me.”
“Ryan, I appreciate your sentiment, but you have to understand where I am coming from.” I stopped and turned to him. “It’s you and Billy and ones like you two; the reason I am doing this. Imagine if we wait for the rogues to come here and y’all fight with battle ready ferals and rogues. Jazzy and Eddie would stand a big chance of losing their parents.” He was about to say something, but I cut in again. “Imagine them coming and taking Jazzy and Eddie, but not stopping with just covering them in blood this time, but doing something worse. Could you live with that when there had been another, better option available? Doing it this way, they will not see us coming. They will be complacent and think that there is no way the MoonBeams can find me. It is the best option, and if I get hurt in the process, I can deal with that.” I heard Trent growl in my head when I said that. I should have known he was still keeping tabs on me. “They won’t kill me; as I said they want to use me. I can’t and won’t be able to live with it if something happens to a child or any other member of this pack because of me.”
I turned and headed down the hall again, letting him process all of that. I had to help my best friend and my angel before I left.
*Chapter 21
I knocked on the door even though Billy was beside me, just to see if Becca would answer, but of course she didn’t. Billy opened up to let me go in before he entered, and the sight before me had tears welling in my eyes.
